Listen to Obituary

Claudette Seals was born the seventh of ten children to Emanuel and Nadine Seals of Higginsville, Missouri on June 8, 1937. Claudette attended schools in the Higginsville and Lexington, Missouri areas. She married young and was unable to graduate high school, but later completed her GED and continued her education by obtaining medical assist certificate in nursing and worked in private nursing agencies for many years. Claudette was a hard worker and held several city and county positions throughout her working years and spent her final working years at Unity Village where she spent many hours praying for her family and others. She instilled a strong work ethic in her children as well as an importance of education to reach life goals. Claudette single-handedly raised the majority of her eleven children to adulthood. She came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1971 at a tent revival; and since then sang in church and choirs lending her beautiful soprano voice to the chorus of singers. Her voice still echoes the words of some of her favorite songs, “In Times Like These” and “He Touched Me”. Claudette loved the ocean and expressed several times of wanting her ashes scattered on the ocean, so she can continue this love and journey. Claudette spent her final years in a nursing home but was well cared for by her youngest daughter Mia Jane who saw to it her needs were being met. Claudette had quite the heavenly welcoming committee as she was preceded in death by her parents Emanuel and Nadine Seals, her sister, Rebecca Jane (Becky), and brothers Emanuel Clinton (E.C.), Robert (Bob), Howard, William (Billy Harold); a son, Edwin Leonard, a daughter, Lorena Nadine, and grandsons Benjamin, Jr., Jaron and Dominique. Claudette leaves to mourn her passing sister, Sandra McQueen (Clifton), brothers John (Tootie), George, and Leonard (Wayne); children Michelle, Brian (LaDonna), Melinda (Malcolm), Cecil Jr. (Stacy), Gilda (Robert), Kelly (John), Mia, Andrew and Benjamin; a host of grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
