Clinton DeWitt Holmes Jr., 80, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on June 25, 1945, in New York to the union of Clinton Holmes and Gloria Fickling Holmes.

Clinton grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Baptist Hill High School in Charleston, South Carolina. After high school, Clinton attended South Carolina University in Columbia, South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. After college, Clinton joined the Airforce and served four years. During his service, he was a recipient of the Air Force Good Conduct medal by the National Defense Service and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

After discharge from the Air Force, Clinton began working as the department of pipeline superintendent for Kansas City Water Services Department where he worked for 13 years. Clinton retired in 2013 after thirty-five years of service. After retirement, Clinton stayed active by attending family events and visiting the casino.

Clinton was to Donna Marie Murray April 12, 1990, and they were happily married for 36 years.

Clinton is survived by his parents, Clinton Holmes and Gloria Fickling, his wife Donna Marie Holmes, five adult children: Gina Murray, Tanya Murray (Michael Johnson), Kenneth Murray (Teresa Murray), Dana Murray (Denise Murray – deceased), Jerry Murray (Pam Murray), and Shanisha Saulsberry, two sisters; Alice Diggs and Joyce Griffin, sisters-in-law, Darlene Holmes, Josephine Gines, Carol Crowbarker, Vickie Dydell, brother-in-law, Albert Murray, and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and extended grandchildren.
