Cora Elizabeth Mitchell, 78, was born on March 2, 1943, to Tommie J. Young, and Allene Young in Clarendon, Arkansas. Her parents, brother: Allen Young; sister: Valrie Young; and her two precious children, son: Segest Tom Mitchell Jr; and daughter: Tynnetta Evon Reese preceded her in death.
Cora grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where she attended East High School. She later began work at the Kansas City Police Department where she worked for many years.
Cora enjoyed traveling, writing, drawing, and various trips to McDonalds and Smoothie King for ice-cream and smoothies. Cora enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved laughing, dancing, singing, and talking on the phone to her friends. Cora would spend her time reminiscing about her younger days and often shared stories about her upbringing. Cora enjoyed going to church and reading her bible. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and later rededicated her life at Praise Chapel Christian Fellowship under the leadership of Jose and Angela Vargas. Cora was a beautiful soul and was deeply loved by those around her.
Cora Elizabeth Mitchell passed away on February 25, 2022, at St. Luke’s East in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
She is survived by her children: Ilana Mitchell, Shalesha Mitchell, and Hassan Mitchell, Kansas City Missouri; her grandchildren: Christopher Hanks, Chanelle Hanks, Michael Words, Natalie Reese, Troy Reese, Kansas City, Missouri; her brothers: Michael Young, Carlton Young; sisters: Marsha Young, Diahan Riley, Cheryl Young, Tonnie Coates (Robert) Alison Young Page all of Kansas City, Missouri. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
