Mr. Craighton Andre Stephens Campbell

Craig was born June 26, 1968, at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Missouri to Lurlee Anna Dean Stephens and Emanuel Luther Campbell Sr. He was the tenth of ten children and the second-born twin.

He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and spent part of his teenage years in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he graduated from George Washington High School in 1986. After high school, He attended Vincennes University where he received his Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science.

Craig served his community as an undertaker/embalmer and funeral director. He began his career with a short stint at People’s Funeral Home. He worked at Boatwright Funeral Home in Indianapolis, Indiana for five years. When he moved home to Kansas City, Missouri, he continued his service as Chief Embalmer and licensed funeral director at Lawerence A. Jones (LAJ) Funeral Home for over 20 years. In addition to his employment at LAJ, he worked for Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel and Golden Gate Funeral Services in KCMO, and Mrs. J.W Jones Memorial Chapel in KCK. After leaving LAJ, he continued his career at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors before retiring after fulfilling his passion for over 30 years.

January 12th, 1994 Craig married Rochonda Traylor. Together they had a daughter Brooklyn Ondrea Campbell. Craig also has an older son, Jamil Andre Campbell.

In his leisure, he was an avid Chief’s fan. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs play, especially winning the Super Bowl. He also enjoyed taking his boat out on the lake and fishing, talking with his colleagues and friends, spending time with his wife and family, attending and coaching basketball games as well as watching his daughter coach and play basketball, and watching his son preach. He was especially proud of his children.

He is preceded in death by his first daughter, Baby-girl Campbell; parents Emanuel Sr. and Anna Dean Campbell; brother Emanual Luther Campbell, Jr, Nathan Dean Campbell, and Christopher Aaron Stephens Campbell.

Craig is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rochonda Campbell, his daughter Brooklyn and son Jamil. He also leaves six siblings, Carolyn Johnson (LaSalle) of Reno, NV, Lorna Gail Campbell of Kansas City, MO, Debra CampbellCarter (Gary) of Columbia, MO, Stephanie King (Fred) of Kansas City, MO, Robyn McKelvy (Ray) of Franklin, TN, Vanessa Beasley of Kansas City, MO. He likewise leaves a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family members and friends.
