Ms. Curtice Lee Smith, affectionally known as “Queenie” was born to the union of Wade Brown, Sr., and Artie Mae Brown on January 4, 1938, in Earlsboro, Oklahoma.

Curtice was an angel right here on earth.  She never judged anyone and showed genuine love to all that she met.

Curtice was a dedicated member of Hosanna Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, the Women’s Choir, and eventually retired to the Mother’s Board were she served up until she received her wings. She was a devoted member for 36 years.

Curtice graduated from Lincoln High School, and after high school she completed nursing training, and began her career at St. Joseph Medical Center in the trauma center.  She later became a NICU nurse and retired from Children’s Mercy Hospital. Upon retirement she helped care for her great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Jesse James Smith, Sr; soulmate, Paul Crocket; parents, Wade Brown, Sr. and Artie Mae Brown; sisters, Eula Mae Lewis, Naomi Williams, Royce Brown, Audrey Hamp; son, Michael Smith; grandson, Rodney Sayles; and great-grandson Bryan Smith, all precedes her in death.

Mother Curtice will be passionately missed.

She leaved to cherish her memories her children, Jesse James Smith, Jr., Sharon Bailey (James Bailey), Delawn Cortez Sims (Tiana Kelly-Sims); her brother, Wade Brown, Jr; her grandchildren, Micheal Irby. Artiesha “Curtise” Smith, Jesse Maurice Smith, Micheal Smith, Martez Smith, James Smith, Nicole Smith, Jana Noel Smith, Katiya Helm, Jesse James Smith, III, Hillary Smith, Kareem Smith, Julia Venerable, Amaya Sims, Andre’ Sims, Brooklyn Sims, Chase Sims, and Dallas Sims; her great-grandchildren, Delawnte’ Smith, Delawnna Smith, Arte’ Smith, Artez Smith, Marshea Smith, Martez Smith(Lil Marty), Logan Smith, Journy Smith, Mariah Helm, Christina Helm, Jeramiah Helm, David Helm, Johnnie Helm, Jada Smith, Tatiana McCrea, Thonas McCrea, Jr, and Malani Forbbs; her great-great-grandchildren, Carter “Curtice” Smith, Peyton Smith, Bryan Smith, Jr., Avery Smith, Ratino Littlejohn, London Smith, Delaya Bryann Smith; a special friend, Mr. Ralph Styles, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
