Listen to Obituary

Curtis Williams, 86, passed away on December 4, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on July 1, 1932 in Stamps, Arkansas to Lemuel Williams and Gussie Burston. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel Williams and Gussie Burston, daughter Lavonne Brooks, son Curtis Williams, and grandson Richard A. Preston III.

He was a very hard worker at a very young age. He was employed with Deffenbaugh Disposal Company as a Truck Driver for 38 years until he retired. After a few years of retirement, he got tired of just sitting around so he went back to work. He had a very outspoken straight forward vibrant personality. Curtis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior under the great leadership of Bishop CN Rucker at Greater Holy Temple and when it came to church he didn't play. He served as an Usher & Trustee and he continued to serve under Dr. JC Haynes and he traveled all over the country for many years with the late Bishop Rucker & Dr. Haynes. When they called, he was ready without hesitating. He was a faithful member to Greater Works Family Worship Center under Bishop Travis C. Shockley until his passing.

Curtis was a very devoted husband, father, grand & great grandfather and friend. To some he was known, as "Hot Shot" because of his past in Boxing and to my understanding he was undefeated. He was also called Lefty & Skip to all of the neighbors in our neighborhood. He was well liked & loved by all because he, would give his last to help anyone and if he liked or loved you, he would call you ugly ... LOL.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife Lynn of 53 years, children; Gary, Lawrence, Bobby, Kim, Lenora, Monique, Amanda (Eugene)Thomas, Shaneika, and a host of grand & great grandchildren, relatives, friends and 2 lifelong friends Nathaniel Yates and Bennie BoBo.
