Listen to Obituary

Curtistean (Chris) Bynum Crump, 60, was born on March 1, 1956 in Tallulah, Louisiana to the union of Jessie B. and Curtis C. Bynum Sr. She departed this life on September 27, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri. Chris was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Jesse B. and James T. Taylor; her husband, Wilburt Crump, and her brother, Curtis C. Bynum Jr. Chris was educated in Kansas City Public Schools. After obtaining her GED, she received training and certification. She worked at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown, Missouri for 18 years, where she held several positions before retiring in 2013. She was very nurturing; bringing her smile to the residents and staff around her. Chris was introduced to Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was of strong mind and heart, so there was no mountain too high for her. She knew Christ strengthened her and would lead her through ALL trials and tribulations. Chris and the late Odell E. Scott, Sr. had one son of their union, Odell Bynum. She would later marry Wilburt Crump with whom she shared a daughter, Christina White. She would always bring a smile to those around her; joy and laughter to those who knew her best. No matter what she was doing she would always have time for family and friends. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, playing cards, eating out, shopping, listening to gospel music and traveling whenever she could. Chris was preparing to move and join her younger sister in Virginia, but God called her home instead. On September 27, 2016, Chris got her wings. She was surrounded with love at her departure as she was in life. Curtistean (Chris) leaves cherished memories to her father, Curtis C. Bynum, Sr. of Tallulah, LA.; son, Odell E. Bynum, Sr. of Kansas City, MO.; daughter, Christina White of Kansas City, MO.; brothers, Troy Bynum (Veronica) of Pensacola, FL., Marvin Bynum of Vicksburg, MS., Bobby Bynum of El Cerrito, CA,.; sisters, Janice Dean (Kevin) of Blue Springs, MO., Vivian Riojas (Sam) of Kansas City, MO., Wanda Thomas of Orlando, FL., Sheila Taylor of Newport News, VA and Rita Bynum of Herndon, VA.; five grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Chris, will be truly missed.
