Listen to Obituary

Cynthia Ann Shaw, 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at home in Grandview, Missouri. She was born on June 14, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas to James Shaw and Ella Ruth Shaw. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lincoln high School, Class of 1973. After high school, she attended Rockhurst University, where she pursued a degree in Liberal Arts. She began working for Owens & Corning Fiberglass company, where she worked until her untimely disability. Cynthia knew and loved the Lord, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while being a member at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She had a big heart and wholeheartedly loved her entire family. She accepted you as you were and would give you her last, even if that meant she went without, which was often the case. She liked soap operas, game shows, cooking, and would fix you anything you wanted. She loved to dance and all types of music. We knew when one of her favorite "songs" were on. She will always be loved and missed by her daughters, brother, sisters, grandchildren, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; James Shaw and Ella Ruth Shaw, her only son; Keeton T. Shaw, her brother; Allen W. Shaw, and her sister; Cheryl Y. Burleson.

She is survived by three daughters; Monica Scott (Jerome), Shandra Mitchell (William), and Melissa Shaw, one brother; Kenneth E. Shaw, three sisters; Karen R. Shaw, Kathy Shaw-King (Willie), and Carla Rushing (Eugene), one aunt; Lenore Shaw-Dixon of Los Angeles, California, and her longtime companion; Willie "Eddie" Brooks, nine grandchildren; Jerwanda, Monique, Jerome Jr., Adrionna, Keyia, Keenia, Bryce, Mellanie, and Brooke, two great-grandchildren; Makenzie and Cambrie, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family of Cynthia Ann Shaw wishes to express their gratitude and deep appreciation to every one of the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to us during this time of bereavement. May God continue to bless and keep you.
