Daija Ammons passed away on January 21, 2025, at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. She was born on May 5, 2002, in Kansas City, MO to Darryl Ammons Jr. and Keisha Ammons. She grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Allen Village High School. Daija attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO where she was studying to obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Daija was on the Dean's List all four years and was set to graduate from Lincoln University in May of 2025. Daija’s academic excellence was recognized through her membership of the National Honor Society.

Daija's achievements extended beyond college. She was a proud recipient of the Math Award, honored by the Allen Village High School Honor Society and earned a place on the Superintendent's Honor Roll at Allen Village and the  Dean’s list. Her dedication to education was further acknowledged through the KC Scholars program and numerous Certificates of Achievement awards. Daija received a Certificate of Participation from the Kansas City Dream keepers in 2017.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Daija was known for her warm personality and her love for chili cheese dogs, her favorite food. She loved to do TikTok’s, and her presence would light up any room she walked into. Daija's love for creating TikTok’s was a testament to her creativity and her ability to connect with others. She had a natural talent for dancing, and her performances were filled with energy and enthusiasm. Whether she was dancing, studying, or spending time with friends and family, Daija's presence was always uplifting and inspiring.

Daija had a passion for dancing which she began at the early age of 5 years old. Daija’s bright personality brought joy to those around her. Her vibrant energy and infectious smile made her a beloved friend to anyone who crossed her path. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. Daija was the person that her peers could always depend on during challenging times and she was very inspirational.

Daija's impact on her community was profound. She was a role model for her peers, demonstrating that hard work and determination could lead to remarkable success. Her involvement in various school activities and organizations showed her leadership skills and her commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Daija's legacy of excellence and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life.

Daija Ammons will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her contributions to her community and her school will not be forgotten. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the many achievements she accomplished in her short time with us.

She was preceded in death by great grandparents: Earl Finch Sr, Jettis Finch, Annie Jean Ammons, Clara Williams, and John Williams; great uncles and aunts: Terrie Williams, Latonia Ammons, Willie Ammons Jr., Janice Shinault, William Finch, Aubrey Finch, and Frederick Finch; grandparents: Kim Ammons, and Morris Winfield Sr.; uncles Reginald Lee Finch and Derek Henderson; cousin Rodney Taylor; special cousin Brian “BJ” Henderson.

She is survived by her parents Darryl Jr. and Keisha Ammons; sister Diamond Morgan (nephews and niece: Milo, Ace, and Dream); grandparents: Shelly Bowen (Leslie), Darryl Ammons Sr., Joyce Finch, Edwin Stitt, and Edwin Williams Sr., uncles and aunts: LaToya Walton (Brandon), Brian Henderson (Monica), Amber Williams, Ashley Williams, Marissa Winfield, Edwin Williams Jr., Erica Williams, and Jessica Williams; best friends: Jaliah Norton and J’Hada Satterfield; a host of cousins, friends, and extended family.
