Listen to Obituary

Darrell Lamont Stevenson Jr’s, sunrise was on his Uncle Joey’s birthday, November 1, 1990. He was born to Leslie Renee’ Davis Goodson and Darrell Stevenson, Sr. At age 31, the sun set on his life, on his beloved brother, DeAnthony’s birthday, April 7, 2022.

Darrell obtained his education in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri and Austin, Texas. He attended Ruskin High School until his Senior year and later moved to Austin, Texas where he graduated from Reagan High School. Darrell was a responsible hard-working man, with a great work ethic who worked numerous jobs, including Harley Davidson, where he worked for 7 years.

Upon his passing, Darrell was working for CKS Packaging. Throughout his career, Darrell made many great relationships and was truly loved by his co-workers.

Darrell was lovingly called “Little Darrell” by his huge family and friends. He was such a gentle soul, very mild-mannered and

respectful. He hardly had a lot of words for you, but he was simply a man of action that maintained a huge presence and he led his younger siblings with silent strength. As a dedicated sports lover, Darrell’s favorite teams were, the Dallas Mavericks, the Kansas City Royals and KC Chiefs… can you tell his favorite color was “BLUE?!’’

Darrell touched so many lives and was an inspiration from birth. Though he was born with a rare heart condition called “Tetralogy Of Fallot”, his heart was pure gold. Darrell never let his diagnosis stop him from being the best possible version of himself and had plenty of love for everyone. Darrell always carried a contagious smile and had the ability to bring laughter to those around him. He truly loved his family, and he will surely be missed!

Darrell joined Greater Mount Zion, MBC in KC, MO where he was baptized, regularly attended Sunday school and participated in Youth Ambassadors For Christ. He rededicated his life to Christ at City of Refuge in Austin, Texas.

Most have heard the saying “It takes a village…”, Darrell most definitely had an amazing one. Along with his loving parents and grandparents, his extensive village included: his honorary grandfather, Dennis Conrad Sr.; honorary mothers, Yolanda &

LaShonda & in memoriam, Lela Renee’; great grandmother, Georgia Miller; grandmothers in memoriam, Renee’ Bentley Thompson & Deborah Cubit.

At the age of 24, Darrell’s life changed forever. On June 30, 2015, he welcomed into this world, his one and only son, Jay’Ceion Kortez Stevenson. Jay’Ceion is the spitting image of his father and grandfather; three generations of look-alikes! He is as pleasant and as loving as his father and brought so much joy to Darrell’s life. They shared many experiences and will always have an unbreakable bond. Jay’Ceion will always have a great support system and we know that Darrell will find peace and solace knowing his son is forever cared for.

Darrell was preceded in death by his paternal great grandmother, Annie B. Stevenson, great great grandmother, Ora D. Whatley and great grandfather, James “Jim” Harris; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Clay and grandfather, James Davis, Sr,; uncles, Ronald and Donald Stevenson; aunts, Joyce Leach and Samantha Davis and beloved cousin, Tyrelle Baker.

He’s leaving to cherish his life and to carry on his legacy, his only son, Jay’Ceion Kortez Stevenson; his devoted mother and father, Leslie Renee’ Davis Goodson and Darrell Stevenson, Sr.;

grandmothers, Ora Lee Stevenson and Laura Davis; four brothers: DeAnthony Stevenson, Dayton Myles, Rickey Lee Jr. and Reigis Canady; three sisters: Princess Pitchford, Shyann Stevenson and Rizson Canady; Aunts: Karen Davis, Kimberly Davis, Denise Conrad; uncles; Tayro Stevenson Sr., Dennis Conrad Jr., Joey Halton, James Davis, Jr., Rodney Davis and Jamee Davis; great- great Aunts and uncles, several great aunts and uncles; a slew of

cousins, family and friends.
