David Eugene Brian “Blue” Clark, age 44, was born on Memorial Day on May 28, 1979, in Kansas City, MO, to David and Lisa Clark. He was the union's third child.
He attended the Kansas City, MO, Public School System and graduated from Southwest High School. During his younger years, he played little league baseball at Three and Two Stadium, football at South Suburban, and basketball at the YMCA on Linwood.
David obtained several certificates from training programs such as refrigeration and cooling. However, his most significant accomplishment was going to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and helping those in need. David had a huge heart. He would give you anything that he had. He was guilty of joking and playing, sometimes too much for the average person. David loved to cook (BBQ), making up recipes as he went along. He loved fishing with his mother, brother, sister, nieces and nephews. He seldom caught anything; he would have some excuse for why he didn't, such as someone's line was too close to his or we were talking too loud. He loved traveling with his family. He enjoyed family time, especially with his nieces and nephews. He always ensured that his nieces and nephews got Christmas gifts from him, and if not a gift for their birthday, they sure got a call from Uncle Blue, as they affectionately called him.
David thought he was the best card player there was. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he made it his business to call his mother almost daily. He had an extraordinary bond with all of his siblings. Throughout his life, he acquired several positive male influences. All of his sports coaches. Also, Joe L. Patterson Sr., Edward Taylor, and Mike Layton.
David is preceded in death by his father, David Michael Clark, grandparents Thomas & Louise B. Smith and Dolly Mae, uncle Henry Gordon, and aunts Veronica Clark and Florene Ransom.
David leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Crystal Clark-Ricks, parents Lisa and Mike Layton; one sister Shannon Clark; three brothers Michael Clark, Matthew Clark, and Daniel Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
