Debra E. Collier

Debra Elaine Collier, 64, passed away on September 29, 2022 at CenterPoint Medical Center, in Independence, MO.  She was born on October 29, 1959 in Houston, TX to Doyle Lee Beene and Dorothy Lea England.  She grew up in Houston, TX where she also graduated from South Houston High School.  After high school, she attended Harding University in Searcy, AR where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She began work for various school districts as a teacher where she worked for seven years.  After her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled all six of her children.  She also worked part time for the Jackson County Board of Elections.  She was involved in the East Independence Church of Christ food pantry and taught the baby class for many years.

She married Karl Collier on August 9, 1978 in Houston, TX.  They were happily married for 44 years.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Dorothy Beene.  She is survived by her husband James Collier; three sons, Timothy Collier (wife Magen Collier), David Collier, and Brian Collier; three daughters, Larissa Collier, Stephanie Baker (husband Trinity Baker), and Angela England (husband Dillon England); granddaughter Elzbietka Baker; and two brothers, Delwin Beene and Dale Beene (wife Marijane Beene); and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at East Independence Church of Christ on Tuesday, October 4th, at 9:00am.  The memorial service will be held at East Independence Church of Christ on Tuesday, October 4th, at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Christian Relief Fund at christianrelieffund.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to their church family and friends for their love and support at this time.
