Dell Solomon, 94, passed away on January 17, 2023, at home, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on January 6, 1929, in Shreveport, LA to Herschel Solomon and Lucille Solomon. He grew up in Shreveport, LA, where he attended school in Shreveport, and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he married Rosie Lawson on April 17, 1948. They were happily married for 75 years.
He began work for AT&T, as an air condition specialist, he worked for 42 years. He retired in 1989 after 42 years. He was involved in the Telephone Pioneers of America. If anyone knew him, they knew he loved to keep his yard immaculate, he also loved to cook, and listen to Blues, and Jazz, he was known to give nicknames, and he was a cool Papa always wearing his shirt half buttoned with his Cuba cologne.
He was preceded into death by parents: Herschel & Lucille Solomon; one son: Det. Bruce Solomon; two sons-in-law: Bobbie Reynolds, and Gary Hill Sr; six brothers: Herschel, Orell, Otis, Nathaniel, Winston, and Boo; one sister: Sis; three grandsons’: Eric Huff, James (Dink) Huff, and Deion Solomon.
Dell leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife: Rosie Solomon of 75 years; five sons: Terry (Marilyn) Boydston Lansing KS, Winston (Anesha) Solomon Mesquitte TX, Clifford (Roxanne) Solomon Belton MO, Dale Solomon, KC MO; four daughters: Pamela Reynolds, KC MO, Lucille Hill, KC MO, Pauline Huff, Denver CO, Gail (Ronnie) Irvin, Independence MO; one daughter-in-law: Tylaine Solomon, KC MO; 37 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, and nephews.
