Delphine Williams, 68, entered into God’s presence on July 30, 2025 at home in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on July 23, 1957, in Jonestown, Mississippi to Napoleon Gates Sr. and Classie (Williams) Davis. She attended Paseo High School. After high school she later received her GED from Women’s Employment Network. She worked in the Kansas City, Missouri School District as an attendance clerk for several years, later working various part-time jobs until retirement.
Delphine accepted Christ at an early age rededicating her life in her adult years at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. David L. Gray. There she served various ministries. She later moved on to United Believers Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Darron Edwards. There she continued helping to build the kingdom through serving as a minister and intercessor. From there she was a faithful member of Canaan Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Tony D. Cobbins.
To know Delphine was to love her. She expressed her love through gifts. She was a prayer warrior with great faith. Seeing souls saved was her passion. As a street evangelist, she had her own unique, bold way of intentionally giving you Jesus and leaving you with an encouraging word. She loved her dainty jewelry, nice handbags and comfortable shoes. Spending quality time with family was one of her favorite things to do. Delphine was unapologetic in her expression and an overcomer in so many ways. There was a silent strength about her and a spirit of excellence within her.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, D. B. Williams, maternal grandmother, Lucille Gulley, paternal grandmother, Dixie McKnight (Joe); father, Napoleon Gates Sr.; and nephew, Dion Wiley Jr.
Left to cherish Delphine's memory: her parents, Classie and Marshall Davis; her children: Tasha Gatson, Iesha Williams, Shenelle Mourning (James), Jesse Williams, and Andrae Williams; siblings: Napoleon Gates Jr., June Gates, Paula Gates, Natalie Gates, Michelle Gates, Stanley Gates Sr. (Sandy), Twyla Gates, Charles Davis Sr. (Danielle), and Anthony Brown (Allison); grandchildren: Tyshae, Giacomo, Omari, Jazmine and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Kross; aunt, Bertha Williams; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
