Denise Y. Lewis. 68, passed away on December 8, 2024, at home in Kansas City, MO. She was born on September 9, 1956, in Kansas City, KS. to Virgil Raymond Wright and Beatrice Johnson-Wright.

Denise grew up in Kansas City, MO. and graduated from Old Paseo High School class of ’74 in Kansas City, MO.

Denise began working for Tension Envelopes as a Machine Operator and Floor Attendant where she worked for 31 years, retiring in 2006.

Denise was an Usher and Choir member of her church.

Denise married Melvin Lewis, Sr. on August 16, 1975, in Kansas City, MO., and they were happily married for 35 years.

Denise was preceded in death by: Virgil R. Wright (Father); Mary Jane Preston and Alicia Andrews (Sisters); Jared Andrews (Nephew); (James), Edward and Minnie Johnson (Maternal Grandparents); Horace and Edna Wright (Paternal Grandparents); and a Special Son Joseph Bartlett.

She is survived by: Beatrice Wright (Mother); Virgil Lewis and Melvin Lewis Jr. (Gigi) (Sons); Kendra Wesson (James)(Daughter); Edward Wright Sr. (Wanda); Barbara Fagins (Edgar); Imani Lewis, Kieria Isaiah, Alexis Lewis, Matajah Lewis, and Dai’ Ja Isaiah (Granddaughters); De Juan Isaiah, Melvin Lewis III, and Malek Lewis (Grandsons); Harmony Isaiah, Braylen Isaiah, Melody Isaiah, and Samir Williams (Great Grandchildren); a Special Nephew Edward Wright. Jr.; a host of other Relatives and Friends.
