It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Dennis Keith Porter, affectionately known as "FuFu Red". He departed this life on June 8, 2025, at the age of 64. Though Dennis may be gone from our sight, his light, laughter, and love will forever remain with us.
Dennis Keith Porter was born to Johnnie Belinda Porter on October 28, 1960, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri.
Dennis received his high school diploma from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, MO. He later began working for Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, MO where he touched many hearts. Dennis had a passion for entertaining; he is an Alumni of the Kansas City Marching Cobras founded and lead by Mr. Willie Authur Smith.
Before Dennis expired, his sister Sherrie D. Porter made sure that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Dennis' life was a testimony to God’s grace and mercy. Dennis was the kind of person you never forgot — truly, the life of the party. With a sharp sense of humor, a booming laugh, and a smile that could brighten the darkest room, he had a natural gift for lifting spirits and connecting with people from all walks of life. He was the perfect mix of street smarts and book smarts — wise in the ways of the world, yet thoughtful, insightful, and deeply intelligent. He always knew what to say and how to say it, and he used that wisdom to guide, protect, and support the people he cared about. Whether solving a tough problem, offering solid advice, or navigating life’s challenges with style and resilience, Dennis led with both his head and his heart. At the center of his world was his family. He stayed close to his roots, never forgetting where he came from or the people who shaped him. Family wasn't just important to Dennis — it was everything. He was a loyal son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend who showed up when it counted. He gave his all to those he loved. He celebrated your wins like they were his own, and when life got hard, he stood by your side without hesitation.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hardy Porter; grandmother, Mary Porter; brother Cederic Porter, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, wisdom, and loyalty. He is survived by: his mother, Johnnie B. Porter; sister; his children: Sheena Porter, Deaunte Gardener, Dennis Porter Jr (Kiara), Deawain Porter, Jshyrma Porter, Jarai Porter, Jaron Truelove (Tiffany), and Matthew Porter; his sister, Sherrie D. Porter; his niece, Ti’Andra Blair; nephews: TiJuan Porter and Tevin Newton, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the joy and privilege of knowing him.
Please join us for a Celebration Repass as we share stories, laughter, and love in honor of a man who brought so much of all three to the world. Rest in eternal life, Dennis Keith Porter. Thank you for the lessons, the laughter, and the love.
You will never be forgotten "FuFu Red".
