Listen to Obituary

Deonte Wade Brown Sr. was born on January 29, 1982, in Kansas City, KS to his father: Wade Brown; and raised by his mother: Monica T. Doran; and his stepfather: John S. Doran Sr. He grew up in Kansas City, KS and attended F.L Schlagle High School. Deonte held a variety of jobs until he followed his passion for working with disadvantaged youth. This led him to apply for a position with Cornerstone of Care – Gillis Campus where he was a dedicated employee for 13 years. Deonte would later use his gifts and skills that he learned from Gillis to pursue management roles at Sherwood Autism Center and Rediscover until the time of his passing.

From a young age Deonte was very passionate about basketball, so much so that you could often find him debating on the court. His favorite basketball player of all time was Kobe Bryant. Along with basketball he had a major love for the Dallas Cowboys and had been a fan since childhood. Growing up Deonte loved to watch his grandmother barbeque. He was always fascinated with her technique; he would later go on to affectionately be called “The Grill Master” by his mother. Deonte had an amazing sense of humor and could make you laugh and feel special even on your worst day.

To know Deonte is to know that he was protective of his family. He would give to those in need and would not hesitate to help others even when tired or sick. He was truly someone you could count on and will be immensely missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Retha Webb; brother: Wade Bentley; uncles: Clifford Webb, Charles Webb, and Johnny Bullock; aunt: Joyce Webb; and special aunt and friend: Shanita Webb.

Deonte leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Bryce Phillips, Jeilel Phillips, De’Ajanae Brown, Deonte Brown Jr., Ce’Auvion Brown, Sa’Vaia Brown, Savannah Brown, Tayana Brown, Ariyah Brown, and Gianna Brown; mother: Monica T. Doran; stepfather: John S. Doran; father: Wade Brown; sisters: Bionica Brown, Kimberly Blair, Jaime Garth, Joy Jaxson, and Shemecca Bentley; nephew (God Son): Kye Anderson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
