Derrick L. Thomas

Derrick L. Thomas, 52, passed away on March 6, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Derrick was born on June 9, 1969, in Canton, MS to William Harrison Thomas and Sylvia Ann Johnson (Grant). Derrick graduated from Velma Jackson High School in Camden, MS. After high school he attended Vatterott College in Kansas City, where he received a diploma in Heating, A/C & Refrigeration Mechanic.

Derrick began work for Upfield as a Packing Technician where he worked for several years. Derrick married Shaunte on August 18, 2007, in Kansas City, they were happily married for 14 ½ years.

Derrick was preceded in death by his father; William Harrison Thomas, brother; Carlton Reed.

Derrick is survived by his mother Sylvia(Jimmy) Grant, wife;  Shaunte Thomas, Crystal Williams, Brittany (Howard) Hollins, A’Keyrea Thomas, Tamyra Thomas, Derrionna Thomas, Dekirra Thomas, De’Mya Thomas, daughters; Valerie (Joseph) Gray, Monique Hines, Tonya Parkman, Makeba Wilson, Angela Wilson, sisters; AJordan Williams, Kyson Williams, Tony McDaniel III, grandchildren; Jaylen, Jordan, Journee Hollins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
