Donald Ray Temple was the tenth child, and seventh son, born to the union of Alfred Temple, Sr., and Fannie Norris, born on December 6, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Fannie Temple; son, Donald Temple II; sisters, Shirley Kidd, Stella Temple, Constance Temple, and Belinda Jackson; brothers, Alfred Temple, Jr., Bennie Temple, Cecil Temple, Oscar Temple, and Norris Temple.
Ray was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District, attending Manual High School, class of 1974, in which he thoroughly enjoyed choir, track, and football as a proud Cardinal!
Ray accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior in his early 20’s, under the leadership of the late Overseer Larry Camp of Evangelist Temple House of Prayer COGIC. Until his untimely departure, he served the Lord with all his might. Ray was blessed with the gifts of studying the Word, intercessory prayer, and most of all, the ultimate giver!
During Ray's professional life, as a member of Teamsters, he worked in the freight industry, as a dock worker and driver with Roadway, Yellow Freight, Emery and most currently, O’Reilly Auto Parts, as a delivery driver.
Ray met Rhonda Taylor at Evangelist Temple. Love interest ignited when Ray offered Rhonda a job at a local clothing store, while she was in college. From their union in 1980, Donald Ray II, fondly known as, “Deray”, and Haley Renea were born. Ray thoroughly enjoyed serving as sideline coach for his son’s soccer and basketball teams; also known as the neighborhood/dad coach! Most recent title, Doting Papa!!
Ray's outgoing, infectious personality allowed him to never meet a stranger. In his presence, you would instantly know, he loved the Lord, his family, Blue Magic, and the LA Lakers!
Donald departed this life on January 30, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital, after a brief illness. He will be sadly missed and loved by his daughter, Haley Temple; grandson, Kylan Deray Temple; granddaughter, Gianna Ray Temple all of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Ruth Ann Howard,
Kansas City, Kansas; brothers, Hilton Temple, Birmingham, Alabama, and Tony Temple, Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, Frank Jackson, Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
