Donna was born to the parents of Eugene Taylor and Opal Mae (Meigs). She was the youngest of four children. Her parents, brother, and her son precedes her in death.
She united in Christ at the early age of 5 at Second Baptist Church in Argentine, Kansas, under the leadership of Rev. Roy A. Reed. She became a Child Prodigy and was very active in the church departments such as ushering, singing, working, and teaching with children.
She graduated from Paseo High School and attended Metropolitan Junior College, and University of Missouri (MU). There, she met her husband, LaVern Charles Hale, and in this union were two children, Caren and LaDon Hale. This marriage was dissolved. She later remarried Terry Deckard. She had no children in this union. Donna moved her Christian membership to Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Lee H. Johnson.
Donna retired as a city worker with the Kansas City Missouri Water Department. She was always there for her family and friends. Donna will always be remembered for her singing, and her constant smile, and always talking!
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Caren Hale; five grandchildren, Crystal (Crishad and Jazzy), Cortez (Calil), Cydney (ArMiyah, Ariauna, Aaliyah), Alex, Alexis (Ariel); two sisters, Shirley Green, and Janice Harvey; four stepsisters, Myra Dickson, Deborah Harvey, Helen (Booker T.) Williams, Evon (Larry) Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
