Celebrating the Life and Legacy of
Donnell Williams
June 6, 1957 – September 7, 2026
Donnell Williams, 69, passed away on September 7, 2026, surrounded by family and friends after courageously fighting until the very end. Donnell was born on June 6, 1957, to the union of Herbert and Ella Lee (Rockett) Williams. He was the youngest male of 9 children.
Donnell was educated in the KC school district and later accepted Christ. His legacy is built on his faith, family, and commitment to hard work. Donnell preceded in death his wife and best friend Deborah Williams, his parents Herbert and Ella Williams, and his four siblings Keith, Detria, Valorie Williams, and Ella Webb.
Throughout his life, he spent many years with Housing Authority of Kansas City and then later retired after working 20 plus years with the Dendal Group. He is also well known as a master of all trades; there wasn't much he couldn't fix, build, or remodel. He developed a love for working with his hands and was titled the grill master.
Donnell's free time was spent with his children, relatives, and close friends; he showed up to numerous graduations, weddings, birthday dinners, and every other event he was included in. Donnell valued an array of music and was always thrilled to DJ whenever the mood struck or where food, laughter, and fellowship were. Those gatherings became cherished memories and a reflection of Donnell's generous heart and gift for bringing people together. Let’s not forget he was a self proclaimed KING of Dominos and Pool
Donnell leaves to cherish his beautiful memory: his brothers Herbert and Forrest Williams, his sisters Marion White and Vernita Spears, his sons, Maurice, Donnell (Baby Rita) and Lawrence (Theresa) Simonton, his daughters Tamika Jones (Gregory), LaTrisha Jones (Antyan), LaShawnda Summers (Antwone) and LaBrenda Simonton (Willie), 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, his special friend Ms. Sharon Rolland, special nephew Keith Simonton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Though Donnell's earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the faith he shared, the laughter he created, and the memories he made will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
