Rev. Dwayene Jones passed away at home on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born December 1, 1955. He was the third of six children born to the union of Rev. Robert Lee and Anna Jones in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister Charlyene Jones Caldwell.
He attended Kansas City Public School and graduated from Westport High School. He joined the U S Army in 1977 and served four years with a honorable discharge. He was married to Joyce McDonald on August 12, 1978 and was blessed with 38 wonderful years. They were blessed to have three children.
He received his calling to ministry and was ordained at St. Paul Baptist Church in Higginsville, MO in 1986. He was Associate Minister and later became Pastor at Fredonia Missionary Baptist Church were he served faithfully for 23 years until his death. He's a former member of the Sunshine District and was the Vice President of the United Christian Ministry. For several years he did radio ministry on KPRT 1590 AM on Saturday mornings. He was also employed at St Lukes Hospital and Holy Temple Homes and Builders Surplus.
Dwayene was an awesome chef who loved to cook. His specialty was BBQ and homemade rolls. He loved to cook and fellowship with family and friends. He was owner of Mr and Mrs J's BBQ in Kansas City. He was an avid sportsman who loved his Chiefs and fishing.
He leaves the love of his life, Joyce Jones and three children, Devin (J'Mil), Danica and Damon Jones and 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Ja'Len, Jordan, DeVonte, DeMarkus, Jaden, Andriea, Malachi and Malik all in Kansas City, MO. His siblings Annette (James) Moore, Marvin Jones, Glenda (Michael) Hawkins, Mary Jo Jones all in Kansas City, MO. Host of other relatives and friends.
