Elaine Bristol, 71, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at her home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Elaine was born on December 10, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert West and Mattie Sue (Halliburton) West. She was raised in Memphis, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School.
In 1983, Elaine moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she began working at KU Medical Center and later for Cap Makers.
In 1984, she met Ray Charles Bristol, and the two began building a life together. They married in November of 1985 and shared many blissful years. To this union two children were born, forming a beautiful family of eight.
In 2000, Elaine began working for Ford Motor Company, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 2020.
Elaine was known for her fun, funny, and sometimes feisty personality and was often described as the life of the party. She was someone people loved to be around, whether sharing stories, laughing, or simply sitting and talking about life.
She loved being outdoors and could often be found gardening, visiting the zoo, or relaxing outside working on sudoku puzzles. Elaine cherished time spent with family and friends, especially when it meant sharing stories, jokes, and laughter.
Elaine also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. Whether it was Bid Whiz, spades, gin rummy, or dominoes, she loved a good game and was well known for her playful trash talking while playing.
Many will remember the way she greeted people with her signature “Hey bae bae” and how she never left without reminding the people she loved that she loved them. Elaine had a warm spirit and a welcoming smile that made it easy for her to connect with anyone she met. She showed her love through simple but meaningful acts like feeding people, taking the kids to the zoo, circus, park or just making sure those around her felt cared for. She was a protector and had creative ways that she cared for the kids, including stacking the old yellow pages on the car seat to give them a boost and instinctively throwing her arm out to keep them in place whenever she made a quick stop.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert West and Mattie Sue West; her siblings: Robert West, Sharon West, Charles West, Maurice Jones, Michael Jones, and Jacqueline Jones; and two beloved grandchildren. Elaine was the last surviving sibling of her family.
Left to cherish Elaine's memory: her husband, Ray Charles Bristol; her children: Kelvin Bristol, Rachel Bristol, Tabatha Gibson, Tamika Burnham, Michael Bristol (LaTosha) and Derek Villarreal (Rasheda).
She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, who will forever cherish her memory.
Elaine’s love, laughter, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
