Emanuel H. Norris, lovingly known as "Brother" was born October 3, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Sadie Carter and Dr. Edward Bathel Fisher. He was raised by his beloved mother Sadie Carter and his step-father Clarence Carter. All parents proceeded him in death. Emanuel was the middle child of three. He loved playing sports in high school. During his youth he participated in programs offered by the Gregg Community Center and the Don Bosco Community Center and then as an adult at the Southeast Community Center. Emanuel married Anna F. Lewis on April 13, 1968 and to this union his only child Barry K. Norris was born. Emanuel was proud of all of his son's accomplishments. Both Anna and Emanuel were instrumental in educating Barry for his entire college career. He graduated in 1993 from the University of Missouri Columbia. Even though they divorced in 1993, Anna and Emanuel maintained a close friendship until his passing. Emanuel also fell in love with his only grandson Bryce Kristopher Norris who resides in St. Louis, Missouri. Emanuel could relate to almost anyone and he impacted and inspired many through his corporate organizations and non for profit entities. He held a degree in Business Administration and was a Certified Public Purchasing Officer. Emanuel was involved in many non for profit organizations most of his life. He served as a member of several organizations including: President of the Lion's Club Treasurer of The Black Chamber of Commerce Secretary for Mid America Council of Public Purchasing. He won several awards during his career as a Purchasing Director including: The President's Award Southern Christian Leadership Conference 100 Most Influential African Americans in Kansas City Manager of the Year, Mid-American Council of Public Purchasing Emanuel's career in purchasing span for over 25 years. He was The Director for The George Washington Carver Neighborhood Center. He also served as Executive Director of Minority Contractors Association of Kansas City, as well as Director of Purchasing for the Kansas City Missouri School District and Jackson County, Missouri. Emanuel loved his family and he loved holiday gatherings. His mother also held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his son Barry K. Norris St. Louis, Mo., one grandson Bryce Norris of St. Louis, Missouri, two siblings, Ruth Hill of Kansas City, Mo., James (Deborah) Monroe of Houston Texas, two half-brothers, Hartwell and Bervin Fisher of Kansas City, Mo. two nieces Latonya (Maurice) Godfrey, Mia Monroe, one nephew, Andre' Anderson, three great nieces Latonya Mitchell, Adrienne Anderson, and Erin Zachary and two great nephews Andre' Jr. and Brandon Anderson and a host of other dear family and friends. Services will be held 11:00am Saturday July 9, 2016 visitation 9-11 at Greater Revelations Worship Center 7640 Prospect Ave Kansas City, MO 64132 burial Twelve Gates Memorial Gardens.
