Mr. Ernest Wallace Ernest passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at home surrounded by family members. Mr. Wallace was born on August 30, 1946 in Jackson, Mississippi to the union of William Wallace and Lizzie B. Collins. He was one of their 26 children. Both parents proceeded him in death. Mr. Wallace, his brother Lou Gene, and his mother relocated to the "West Side" of Kansas City when he was a year old and made the "West Side" his home for approximately 23 years. During those years, he graduated from Manual High School with a Vocational Degree in Tailoring. He went on to get his apprenticeship in Welding and Construction then worked in the field with Local Union 101 for several years before he started working for the City of Kansas City MO Parks and Recreation Department from where he retired in 2011. Mr. Wallace met his first wife, Karen Posey on the "West Side" and to this union two children were born and loved two other children as his own. That marriage was dissolved and he met his current wife Carla Dean. To this union two children were born. Ernest loved playing his guitar as a young man. This is something he learned from his brother in-law Matthew McClelland while still on the "West Side". He used his skills in many bands throughout the Kansas City area and at one time played as a member of the "Bloodstones" before they became famous. Also, he was a member of the "Dirty Dog Band". Ernest enjoyed traveling and definitely enjoyed being the host of "block parties" and being surrounded with good friends and family. Mr. Wallace leaves to mourn his home going, his wife Carla Wallace and his 6 children; LaToyia Wallace of Kansas City, Mo; Christopher Wallace of Kansas City, Mo; Ernest "Mickey" Wallace (Belinda) of San Mateo, Ca; Ermalinda Wallace of Sicklerville, NJ; Kelly Posey (Juanita) Frisco, TX and Kenneth Posey of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves 20 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and two children he helped raise after the passing of their father Monique and Alcelia Dean and one special niece he loved as his own, Catrina Wallace. He leaves behind other siblings Alberta Tally, Sammy Wallace and Charles Wallace all of Chicago IL. Lillie Ruth Posey Ray, Dale Posey, and Jurlen Finely of Midnight, Ms. He leaves a very special niece Bettie Brinner of Chicago, IL and a special nephew John McKnight, Jr of Milwaukee, WS. Also one niece in the Kansas City area that will miss him dearly, Gennie Mina of Overland Park, Ks.
