Essie Bell Bey, 94, passed away on July 16, 2019 at home in Kansas City MO. She was born on April 18, 1925 in West Point, MS to Frank Lounce and Dora Jane Belk. She grew up in Kansas City, MO. She was educated in the Kansas City School District. She was a beloved wife, mother grandmother and friend to all. She married Winerford Boyd Bey Jr; they were happily married for many years. Essie was the matriarch of the family. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idle- ness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. She was preceded into death by her husband, both parents, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson. She is survived by two children; Mary Story (Leroy) and Orissa Kel- ley Logan, two sisters Louise Stewart and Katie Lee Davidson, grandsons; Michael Bey (Linda), Jeffery Hill(Robin), Myron Kelley (Maria) Winerford Hill, Marvin Kelley, Marlon Kelley, Martin Kelley (Shirley), Milford Kelley(Tiffany) and Stanley Lott, granddaugh- ters; Cynthia Gee(James),Marie Sutherland(Bobby) Orissa Hill Johnson, and Priscilla Lott-Price (Douglas). She also leaves a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
