Essie Mae Guido, 65, passed away on January 16, 2026, at her home in Raymore, MO. She was born on November 25, 1960, in West Point, MS to John Guido Sr. and Mary Ella Johnson-Guido.
Essie Mae grew up in Kansas City, MO. At a young age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in the Kansas City Public School District, graduating from Paseo High School. After high school she attended Penn Valley Community College, earning a CNA Certificate, a Telecommunication Certificate and Customer Service Certificate.
Essie Mae began work for Mid-America Cardiology as a PBX Operator where she worked for 28 years, retiring in 2013. She also volunteered in the pantry at West Central Missouri Community Action Agency. On Wednesday nights and special events, Essie Mae attended Peculiar United Methodist Church in Peculiar, MO. She also helped with the church’s Christmas store and mission event. Essie Mae was a collector of coins. She had several coins, some rare and others dating back many centuries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers: John Guido Jr., Willie Guido, Charles Johnson, Miller Guido, Adell Johnson and William T. Johnson; and, one sister, Johnnie Mae Daniel.
Left to cherish Essie Mae’s sweet memory: her son, Donnelle Guido; her grandson, Donovan Guido, both of Raymore, MO; a special niece, Krigles Hunter of Belton, MO; two special nephews: Braylon Gaddy of Lee’s Summit, MO and Jaiden Kitchen of Belton, MO; four brothers: Henry Guido of Independence, MO, Ezell Guido of Kansas City, MO, Edward Guido (Verna) of Overland Park, KS and Terry Guido of Dallas, TX; two sisters: Minnie Guido of Raymore, MO and Marcella Guido of Kansas City, MO; special friends: Semetha “Sam” Chapman and Georgina; an uncle, aunts, several nephews, nieces, cousins, and, a host of other loving family and friends.
