Esther Beatrice Hayes was born August 14, 1934, in Helena, Arkansas to Frank and Hattie Hayes. She was the oldest of four children born to this union. Both parents, sister Ommie Hayes and brothers, Hardest Hayes and Vernon Hayes preceded her in death.
She was educated in the Helena Arkansas school system and graduated from Eliza Miller High School.
She Married Authur Lee Burns Sr. To this union, four children were born. Gladys Lawton, who preceded her in death, Aurthur Lee Burns Jr., David Burns and John Burns.
She worked as a beautician for many years at Hayes Beauty Salon in North Chicago, Illinois until retirement.
She was well-known for her pound cakes, sweet potato pies and duck dressing. She traveled the country bowling, winning hundreds of trophies. She enjoyed card games, fishing, and shopping. Most important to her was time spent with family and friends.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory - her children, Arthur Jr. (Diana), John and David; one Aunt, Cleinix Cheatam of Helena Arkansas, fifteen grandchildren, Gregory, Azuredee, Stephen, Raheem, Rahmaan, Rashawna, Iesha, Rahisha, DeAndrea, Lance, Destiny, Kenneth, Thadtisha, David and Dajana; twenty-four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
