Family & Legacy
Evelyn D. Alexander, born on October 10, 1948, in Faith, Arkansas, was a beacon of love and nurturing throughout her life. Raised in a strong Christian environment by her mother, Lois McCleod (who passed away on November 15, 2013), and her father, Luther Earl Hinton (Deceased), Evelyn was deeply rooted in her faith and values. Throughout 76 years, she touched the lives of six generations.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Darrell Davis Sr., along with her beloved grandchildren, Candis Davis, Corey Davis, and Darrell Davis Jr., and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
On August 15, 1984, Evelyn married James Alexander, who preceded her in death on February 5, 2011. Despite her loss, she embraced her stepdaughter, Sunny Alexander, with love and nurturing care, treating her as one of her own.
Evelyn, renowned for her nurturing spirit, was a devoted wife, a loving mother figure to her siblings, and a compassionate caregiver. As the eldest daughter of 11 siblings, she exemplified faithfulness, love, and compassion in all aspects of her life. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her siblings Willis “Boe” Hinton (Mary Hinton), Kenneth Hinton (Iris Hinton), Tanya Hinton, Sharon Griffin (Kelvin Griffin), Teresa Strickland, and Ramona Roston (Girard Roston).
Faith & Ministry
Throughout the years, Evelyn devoted much of her time to the church and ministry, becoming a beacon of light and inspiration to those around her. Many witnessed her remarkable gifts and talents as she embraced multiple roles, fully dedicating her life to serving the Lord. Evelyn exemplified a lifestyle of worship and prayer; she is rightly regarded as a prayer warrior, having led countless churches in intercessory prayer and encouraging others to cultivate a deep, personal communion with God.
Evelyn’s position in ministry began in her early years as a member of the church choir. As she grew in her faith and leadership, she took on the role of choir director. Her unwavering commitment and love for music ultimately led her to becoming the director of music, where she continued to pour her heart into the lives of many, directing, leading, witnessing, performing, and helping others find their own paths of faith. Many were captivated by her anointing, which was undeniably guided by God’s spirit and truth. She was divinely groomed with a multitude of talents that flourished as she ascended through various roles within the church. No matter where the need arose, Evelyn was always present and actively engaged, embodying the spirit of service and dedication.
Evelyn's journey is one marked by deep commitment, resilience, and a heartfelt mission to serve her community. Her early years in church leadership, from Sunday School to the Board of Directors, laid a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Evelyn's exceptional ability to lead with grace and insight made her a beloved figure within her church family, inspiring those around her to strive for excellence in their own service.
After the significant life shift in 2013, following her mother's passing, Evelyn transitioned to Frisco, TX, carrying with her not only the lessons of her mother's love but also the strength gained from years of caregiving. This experience profoundly shaped Evelyn's understanding of compassion and support, qualities she would later embed in her own ministry.
Establishing Women of Destiny was a natural progression for Evelyn, allowing her to fulfill her calling to teach and mentor women. This ministry became a sanctuary where women of all backgrounds could come together, find empowerment, and cultivate a deeper relationship with God. Through workshops, retreats, and various media platforms, Evelyn created spaces for open dialogue, spiritual growth, and personal development.
With her deep doctrinarian perspective and anointing in prophecy, Evelyn not only imparted knowledge but ignited inspiration. This helped countless women discover their unique destinies and purpose. Her unwavering belief in the transformative power of faith was contagious, encouraging both believers and skeptics alike to explore the rich potential that lies within a relationship with God.
Entrepreneurship
After dedicating nearly four decades to the Internal Revenue Service, Evelyn not only excelled professionally; but she also made significant contributions to her community through her entrepreneurial endeavors. Her unwavering commitment to her work was reflected in the numerous awards and accolades she received, which underscored her expertise and dedication.
Beyond her accomplishments at the IRS, Evelyn’s passion for community service shone through in her business, Evelyn’s Christian Gift Baskets. This venture allowed her to express her creativity while providing meaningful gifts to her church and community members. As a wedding coordinator and event planner, she demonstrated her organizational skills and her ability to foster relationships, creating memorable experiences for her clients.
Evelyn’s resilience in facing challenges served as a powerful example to those around her. Whether in her role at the IRS or through her entrepreneurial efforts. She embodied strength of character and an unwavering commitment to her values, inspiring others to do the same. Her legacy is one of service, creativity, and community spirit. She left a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
Celebrating Life
Evelyn passed away on November 5, 2024, from natural causes, finding peace alongside her mother and siblings Loretta Hinton, Diane Hinton, and Christine Washington. Today, we celebrate the lives of Evelyn and other family members who have passed, including Previn Mingo, Keith Hinton, Karina Hinton, and Angela Chatmon.
