Evelyn Jane Banks was born July 12, 1938 to the union of Richard and Clara Elizabeth Banks (both precedes her in death), being the oldest of 5 children.

Evelyn attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Kansas City, MO. In the early 1950's Evelyn married Ernest Gaines, at which time she gave birth to two daughters born through this union, Camelita and Linda Gaines. Evelyn worked at the Federal Building in downtown Kansas City for 15 years as an Environmental Control Worker.

She also was very active in church where she served as Deaconess from 2000 - 2002 at Full Gospel Holiness Church of God. Most did not realize Evelyn was a dedicated tithe contributor despite of the fugal way she lived her life.

After a lengthy illness, she departed this earth on Sunday June 17, 2018 at Truman Medical Center. She was preceded in death by both parents, Richard and Elizabeth Banks, one sister Clotella Phillips, and one daughter Linda Gaines.

Evelyn will leave to morn her passing one daughter Carmelita Banks, two brothers Richard Banks and Vander Page (both of KCMO), one sister Deborah Banks (KCMO), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great and grandchildren, along with many close friends and associates.
