Listen to Obituary

Evelyn Marie (Williams) Tucker of Kansas City, Missouri passed away in her home Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Evelyn was born on November 19, 1946, to John Wallace Williams and Marie (Jackson) Williams in Kansas City, Kansas.

Evelyn was the eldest of her mother’s five children, raised with her three brothers and sister in Kansas City, KS. She was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas public schools, graduating from Sumner High School in 1964. For a short period of time, she lived and worked in Oklahoma City, OK before moving back to Kansas City, MO. In her life journey she wore a multitude of hats; number one becoming a mother to her only son, a wife and having a special partner in her lifetime along the way. In 1990 one of her major acts of love was taking in her sisters 5 young children and raising them as her own until they reached adulthood.

Evelyn was employed as an administrator in the Accounting Department for Payless Cashways headquarters in downtown Kansas City, MO for many years before retiring. She also worked as a part-time cook at Maxine’s Fine Food for years. Evelyn was a great family cook who loved getting together with family for the holidays making her popular greens, famous cherry cheesecakes and other dishes made with love.

One thing for certain she loved her family. Evelyn was a feisty, loving, outspoken sister, mother, wife, aunt, cousin and friend. She was an avid reader and a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. She was never short on words, truly a blessing to everyone who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Marie Williams; husband, Donald Tucker; special partner, Ronald Kemp; only son, Wallace M. “GATOR” Williams; a brother, Michael Jerry Williams, and her only sister, Mae Katherine Williams-Kitchen (George).

Evelyn leaves to cherish her precious memories: her nieces and nephew that she dearly loved and raised: Tanika Williams (Anthony Stanford) of Raytown, MO, Shaneeta Watson and Sharita Kitchen of Kansas City, MO, Sparkle Kitchen of Dallas, TX and George Kitchen of Belton, MO; two brothers: Kenneth Williams (Shanna) of Midwest City, OK and Willie Williams Sr. (Kathy) of Kansas City, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other loving family & friends.
