Flenord Wright, Jr.

Flenord Wright, Jr – lovingly known as “Sonny”, was born in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma on September 6, 1941, to the proud parents of Flenord Wright, Sr and Bernice Littlejohn Wright.

Sonny’s early years were spent in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with 6 siblings. His parents later moved the family to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended school and graduated from Central High School. Shortly after graduating and his mother’s death, Sonny enlisted in the Army. After serving his time and being honorably discharged he went to work for General Motors. Sonny retired after 25 years of employment with General Motors. He completed training and received his cosmetology license and started another career at Macy’s (1st Chair) for several years. Sonny later moved to Texas, where he worked for J.C. Penny and eventually retired again.

Preceding Sonny in death were his parents Flenord and Bernice Wright, two sisters: Clovis Hill, California and Rosetta Lane, Kansas City, MO. Left to mourn and cherish his memory are his three children: Carmen Scott, Kansas City, MO; Rodney Wright, Kansas City, MO; and Tiffany Wright, Kansas City, MO. Four Sisters: Jessie Cannon, Adelanto, CA; Ivory J. Smith, Claremont, CA; Esternola Lawrence; Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Lothell Dunn, Alta Loma, CA; brother: Travis Allen, Kansas City, KS; and a host of family and friends.
