Florencestine West, a longtime resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on August 30, 2024; she was 71. She was born on May 24, 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Elmer E. West and Kay (West) Bryant. She was the only child of her father and the eldest child of her mother.

Known as Florence, Flo, or Stine; Florencestine lived with her mother and stepfather, Martin Bryant, a military man, along with her four siblings during her youth. Being in a military family allowed Florencestine the opportunity to travel and reside in several states and countries all over the world while growing up.

When Florencestine was in her early twenties she gave her life to Christ. She loved God and was a dedicated Christian. She became an ordained minister on March 31, 2002. She served as an assistant pastor and pastor at the Potter's House of Prayer. She wrote gospel songs, sang in the choir, and did street ministry until her health began to fail.

Florencestine was employed at the United States Postal Service for twenty-four and a half years until she retired. She received awards for her hard work and dedication. Creativity runs in the family, and Florencestine inherited this gift. She knew how to sew, craft ceramics, and loved to decorate her home. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking fancy meals.

She loved family and family loved her. Florencestine was very friendly and had a smile that would make everyone around her feel welcome. She was on the West-Miller Family Reunion Committee until her health failed. When the meetings were at her house, she would prepare a delicious meal with all the fixings.
