Frances L. Pitts, 97, was born on June 6th, 1923 in Bonner Springs, Kansas to Fanny Payne and Louis Stricklin. She passed away on January 6th, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri. Although born in Kansas, she has lived in Kansas City, Missouri, all her life.
Frances graduated from high school in Kansas City, and shortly after married Eugene L. Pitts at age 17. Their union lasted for over 60 years and they had two children, Rosemary and Robert. Frances had a host of jobs with one of her most notable being for the Department of Agriculture where she retired after 20 + years of service. After years of retirement, Frances continued to give back to her community and became a case manager for foster children with the Department of Social Services for 10 additional years.
Frances was very family oriented and had a positive energy that touched everyone she knew whether family or friend. She loved playing cards, doing puzzles, and baking everything from pies to cakes. Frances was a lifelong active member at Ebenezer, AME Church and gave her love and time to anyone in need of comfort or a laugh.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Pitts; four sisters and three brothers; her daughter, Rosemary Cunningham; her granddaughter, Rouxanne J. Cunningham; her great-grandson, Eric M. Cunningham; her great-granddaughter, Raeven A. Parks. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her son, Robert Pitts; her grandson, Eric Cunningham (Liz), great-grandson, Kevin Crawford (Veena), great-granddaughters Candace Cunningham and Kaela Farrell, her great-great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Mays, and a host of other relatives and friends.
