It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce a much loved, Frankie A. Cole, 65, was promoted to glory on February 17, 2023 at home surrounded by family.
Frankie A. Cole was born July 29,1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ida Washington and Phillip Balano. She grew up in Kansas City with her four brothers, four sisters and a host of extended family and friends.
Frankie accepted Christ early in life and was a member of several churches. At the age of eight Frankie joined Palestine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Earl Abel. While raising her children, she attended Haven Arrest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Nelson. After raising her children she became a member of Calvary Temple Baptist Church in which she was a Bible study teacher for children ages nine thru twelve. Frankie was an avid church goer visiting various churches until she fell ill.
Frankie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved spending time with her family and praising the Lord. Frankie joined Azel D. Cole Sr. in matrimony on February 14, 1977. Out of that union six children were born, five daughters and one son.
Frankie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976 where she developed lifelong friendships, and an appreciation for learning. After raising her family she went back to school first receiving an Associates Degree in Arts & Science at Penn Valley Community College. She continued on with her education attending the University of Missouri Kansas City where she received (with honors) a Bachelors Degree in both Psychology and Sociology as well as a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Frankie was a hard working woman. She was employed as a welder after graduating high school until the children started to arrive. After some time as a homemaker she went back to work, working for the U.S. Postal Service for eleven years. Frankie was also a carpenter specializing in ceramic tile and hard wood flooring in which she founded “Majestic Home Designs”. Though she had many talents, her passion was working with “troubled adolescents’ and helping the minds of those in need which she believed she did each and everyday. She had a reputation for making everyone feel accepted in her presence. She worked for Ford Motor company until her home going.
Frankie was a true Renaissance woman. As a self taught carpenter gaining her skill remodeling her family home she took pride in the precision of her work. Thus, developing her home remodeling company Majestic Home Designs. She loved building and refurbishing old things. She had many hobbies including dancing, gardening, politics (She loved Barack Obama), cooking, sewing, dominoes and pool. Frankie was an exceptional cook & seamstress. Pool was one of her favorite hobbies in which she entered and won tournaments.
At her core, Frankie loved her family more than anything . She delighted in the closeness of family. Frankie was a devoted Mother and Grandmother she looked forward to regular visits from her grand children. She never missed an important event no matter the distance. She instilled in them love. Despite her large family, she took pride in helping any and everyone. Frankie was a help to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Leon Wainscott, Edward J. Washington and Booker T. Washington, one sister: Lillie A. White, and three great grandchildren: Adom Abel Jewel Randle and Cyrus Kamal Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her memories six children: Ida Cole, Jacqueline Cole, Traci McCallop, Toni Cole, Azel Cole II, and Danielle Cole. Twenty-five grandchildren: Donesha Cornelius, Ron James, Meliek Spencer, Maliyah Spencer, Caleb Spencer, Michael Carlock, Miguel Carlock, Lyric Cooper, Khawaja McCallop, Elaine McCallop, Edward McCallop III, Eden McCallop, Enoch McCallop, Eunice McCallop, Frankie Cole (namesake), Tyriq Cole, Charlise Cole, Shani Cole, Aniya Cole, Jeshan Shoats, Jurnee Cole, Kennedy Cole, Xavier Cole, Dominique Cole, Jalen Jimenez. Nineteen great grandchildren. One brother: William Washington, four sisters: Diane George (Felix), Willa Sudden (Ray), Tonya Harrison (Robert), Shanetta Cooper (DeAnthony). Her best friend of 52 years Margaret Revels, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends
