Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we celebrate the life of Franklin (Frank) Sims, 58, who transitioned from this earthly life on May 26, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born on July 26, 1967, in Greenwood, Mississippi, Frank was the son of Earline J. Sims and Frank Bowman Jr. Frank was a proud graduate of Amanda Elzy High School class of 1986 and later attended Mississippi Delta Community College where he studied Electrical Technology. He also attended Metropolitan Community College, where he studied to be a Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Medical Technician.

Frank was employed at Baptist Medical Center for over 10 yrs. Upon the hospital's closing, he worked faithfully and diligently at Walmart for 16 years. He was greatly respected by those who worked alongside him.

Frank was baptized at Belle Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Schlater, Mississippi, where he accepted Christ and began his lifelong journey of faith. He was a member of Bannister Road Baptist Church and served as a member of the choir. He took great pride in providing for his family and was well known for his kind spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family. Favorite past-times included his beloved "BOOTS", cartoons, guitar, good home cooking, and traveling. He especially enjoyed "hitting the road" in a moment's notice with his beloved wife Yvette.

Frank met the love of his life Cassandra (Yvette) 24 years ago and they were united in Holy matrimony June 21, 2012. Frank was a kind-hearted loving man, and an unselfishly devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather (Pawpaw), uncle, and friend.

Frank’s gentle spirit brought joy and comfort to those around him, and his devoted and guiding presence will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Bowman; his sister, Jacqueline Sims, father-in-law, Charles Leggs Sr.; and brother-in-law, Quentin Leggs.

Frank leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Cassandra Yvette Sims; mother, Earline Sims; mother-in-law, Cassandra J. Leggs; children, Aaliyah Rippley, Terrell Cannon, Marquesio Silas, Aiden Brooks, Jayden Brooks, Jerry Williams III, Chasity Williams, and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters: Rosemary Everett, Jearline Sims, Janet Sims (his twin), and Pat Taylor; his sisters-in-law: Keela Leggs, Tajsheena Leggs, and Charley Leggs; his brothers: Donell Johnson, Randy Sims, Robert Sims, Roosevelt Sims, Clayton Sims (Barbara), Eddie Sims (Marilyn), Timothy Bowman; brothers-in-law: Charles Leggs Jr., Michael Leggs (Carla) and Montay Ross, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
