Fred Laynoy Jacoway Jr. was born February 25, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the proud parents of Freddie Laynoy Jacoway Sr., and Ernestine Finley-Noble. Fred grew up in the Leeds area of Kansas City, Missouri and attended Booker T. Washington, Lincoln Junior and Lincoln High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served 4 years. He was a cook while in the Army, stationed in Germany and received an Honorable discharge. Fred’s mother Ernestine, maternal grandmother Rosa, son Fred Jacoway III, step son Tyrone Huskey, and uncles Otto and Everett Finley, paternal grandfather Freddie and paternal grandmother Mayetta preceded him in death. Fred transitioned on Sunday, April 15, 2018.

Fred married the love of his life Carolyn Lenley-Jacoway, that marriage dissolved after 10 years. To this union they had three children Bridget, Fred (deceased), Tracy all of Kansas City, Missouri. Fred had a daughter Pamela Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, one step daughter (Pamela Wright) of Houston, Texas. He married Florence Huskey-Jacoway and was married for 30 years to this union they had one son Marquel (Sami), of Greenwood, Missouri, two step son’s, Tyrone Huskey(Deceased) and Roy Livingston of Kansas City, Missouri.

Fred worked for the City of Kansas City and Consolidated FreightWays for 30 years. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He had a compassionate heart, always giving of himself. He was very smart and intelligent and believed in saving money and giving good advice. Fred enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to travel in and out of the United States. In his spare time he enjoyed league bowling, playing golf, spades and dominoes, cooking scrumptious meals, barbecuing, smoking turkeys and fellowshipping with family and friends. Fred accepted Christ at an early age and attended Gilbert Memorial A.M.E., Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church and Sheffield Family Life Center. He leaves to cherish his father Freddie Sr. (Patricia), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, sisters Mayetta, Rosa, Joyce, Donna, Shirley of Kansas City, Missouri, Cynthia Johnson (Joe), of Anaheim, California, Patricia, Ghana, Africa, Debra, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Annette, North Carolina. His brother’s Gerren of Kansas City, Missouri, Randy of Seattle, Washington and Billy Doyle of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fred had 20 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
