Listen to Obituary

Gail Ronette Anthony 57, born on August 19, 1966 in Kansas City Mo to the union of Alonzo Anthony and Catherine Anthony (Jones). She made her heavenly transition on July 24, 2024, at Ignite St. Mary’s Medical Resort located in Blue Springs, Mo surrounded by her loving family.  She grew up in Kansas City, MO where she graduated Class of 1984 from Paseo High School, home of the Pirates.

She was first employed with Jackson County Detention Center in 1998 as a Corrections Officer and later accepted a promotion to Case Worker in 2009 where she dedicated 19 years of service until retirement in 2018.

Gail accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Miles of the Morning Star Baptist Church. As she matured in her walk with Christ, she rededicated her life to Him in 2017 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor Darryl James baptized Gail under the confession of her faith. God was the center of her life, and she instilled these same beliefs and values in her children.

She was a beloved mother to Chelain Irvin of Blue Springs, Mo and Tremain Parris of Kanas City, MO. The title of mother was one that she took very seriously and would often make sacrifices including but not limited to, working long hours to ensure that her children were provided with a wonderful upbringing. Gail was truly happy to be blessed with the best of both worlds, a son who was more of a best friend to her and a daughter who is the sweetest, most caring individual one could ever have the pleasure of meeting. Following in her mother’s footsteps Chelain began working alongside her at Jackson County Detention Center where they worked hand in hand for 9 years together. Upon retirement in 2018 Chelain stepped in to assist her with daily tasks until she became her sole caregiver in 2022 and returned the same selfless, motherly love Gail had always exemplified to both Tremain and Chelain throughout their childhood.

Gail found her happiness in cooking, traveling, listening to a variety of music and spending time with family. She also was known for having growing hands. At a very young age her mother taught her how to garden and she continued with this special skill throughout her life. She would often host gatherings where both family and friends attended. People always boasted about her cooking skills with her collard greens being a staple amongst family and friends.  She had a very warm spirit and always walked around with the biggest smile on her face. Gail was a joy to be around whether in the workplace or in close acquaintance. Over the years Gail welcomed family and friends into her home, they found comfort being in her presence. She even became a second “Mom” to her children’s childhood friends, everyone adored her.

Of all these things her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother to her grandson La’ Tone Robinson, March 25, 2008. Their bond was unbreakable, and it goes without saying he truly misses the precious moments they shared together, the outings, and her unconditional love. She introduced him to fishing and still today it is one of his favorite activities.

Gail was preceded into death by her Father Alonzo Anthony and Nephew Terry Anthony. She leaves to cherish her memories, Mother Catherine Anthony, Son Tremain Parris (Eboni Parris), Daughter Chelain Irvin, Sister Sherry Steverson (Daniel Steverson), Grandson La’Tone Robinson, Granddaughter Jalya Parris, Nieces, Nephews and a host of Family and Friends.
