Gail Marks White-Baker was born on September 6, 1955 to Henry J. Marks, Sr., and Anna Mae Nelson in Kansas  City, Missouri.

After graduating from Central High School , she earned a Bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College in St. Marys, Kansas. She began her exemplarycareer as a teacher in the Hickman Mills School District, making a positive impact in the lives of her students. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Gail expanded her role in education by attaining the position of Principal, where she lovingly mentored and supported educators as well as students. Gail retired in 2017, after more than 25 years of a commendable careerchampioning the education of children in her community. After her retirement, Gail was happily to married Robert Baker, Jr., on July 15th of 2017 in Lenexa, Kansas, and she resided in Kansas City, Missouri until Robert's passing late 2017.

Gail's commitment to family was the cornerstone of her character. She was a fiercely dedicated mother, raising her four children- Donald Ingram ,Christopher White, Leslie White, and Alexander White-to be of strong character and work ethic. Gail instilled the value of family in all of her children, and endeavored tosupport them in all they did.

Gail's life was full and rich with activities that strengthened her mind , heart and soul. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, supporting the sorority's commitment to community and advancement . She was an avid artist, creating original pieces in jewelry, clothing, potteryand furniture; she even fired her own pieces in her personal kiln. She was passionate about spending time with and actively engaging her grandchildren. She also loved traveling around the country.

Running marathons became Gail's ardent passion. She became a member of the Black Girls Run Foundation and participated in running as only Gail knew how to do anything: as a Tour de Force! Gail began running marathons in 2015, and she proudly supported the organization as an Ambassadorfrom 2016 to 2017.

Gail's faith carried her throughout her life, and she often espoused that all things happen for a reason. She transitioned peacefully from this world May 12th just as she lived her life: Beautifully. Gracefully. Dignified.

Gail was predeceased by her mother and father, and her loving husband, Robert. She is survived by her children, Donald Ingram, Christopher White, Leslie White, and Alexander White; her bonus Mom , Lee Marks; Donald Ingraham, Sr., father to Donald Ingraham; Louis E. White, Jr., father to Christopher, Leslie and Alex White; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and thousands of children she has educated and loved.
