Gale Carr

Gale Denise Carr was born from the union of James Pernell and Erma Louise Epps Huddleston on June 24, 1952 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the first born of five children and was preceded in death by both parents. Gale was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO, and attended D.A. Holmes and Henry C. Kumpf Elementary schools. She graduated from Paseo High School in May, 1970 where she became a member of the National Honor Society in her junior year, and served as Vice-President in her senior year. Gale participated in the Del Sprites Pageant which was founded by renowned Kansas City educator & entrepreneur Inez Kaiser. Gale was a talented artist, and studied piano under the tutelage of Sarahaugusta Diggs. Gale was one of the first blacks to be accepted to the Nursing Program at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. She later acquired a degree at American Business College of Kansas City, MO. in 1988. Gale professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Dr. I.H. Henderson, Jr at Friendship Baptist Church. While in college, Gale met and was later married to Larry Gene Flowers on September 4, 1971. To this union was born a daughter, Audrea Denise. This marriage was later dissolved. Gale was united in marriage to Thomas Lane Carr on October 8th, 1983, and to this union a daughter was born named Stephanie Lanette. Thomas preceded her in death in 1989. Gale departed this life on January 10, 2017 at her home. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Audrea D. Flowers and Stephanie L. Carr, Kansas City, MO.; stepson, Thomas A. Carr, Raymore, Mo; four granddaughters, Courtney L. Patterson, Rosedrea D. Sims, Lillian G. Sims, and Lauren- Ashley L. Sims, Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Roosevelt Sims, Jr.; two great-grandchildren Malani and Cali Jay; two sisters, Jamesetta (James) Haynes and Shirley L. Huddleston, Kansas City, MO.; two brothers, Gary A. Huddleston and Dennis J. Huddleston, Kansas City, MO.; a nephew, James (Trey) Aldridge, III; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
