Rev. Garland Eugene Lewis was born on September 4, 1937 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to the union of Adel Lewis Sr. and Delcia Govan-Lewis. His parents, wife, one sister, and five brothers preceded him in death.

Rev. Lewis received his education in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He graduated from Dunbar High School. After graduation, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and later married Gloria Jean Lewis. To this union, eleven children were born. He worked as a machine operator at Arm Co Steel for many years, and later retired.

Rev. Garland Lewis truly loved God. After being called into ministry, he went to theology school. Upon completion, he became a pastor at the Immaculate Temple of God in Christ. He later moved on to become the senior pastor of Good Shepherd Spiritual Church.

In his pastime, Rev. Lewis enjoyed gardening and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved music. He had many talents such as singing, preaching, playing the guitar and organ. He also loved reupholstering furniture.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, six daughters, Judy Wilson (Ronald), Linda Shockley (Michael), Teresa Coates (Keith), Sherry Reese (Anthony), Shawn Lewis (Hernandez), Shelly Lewis (Jewell); five sons, Donald Brown (Joyce), Harland Lewis (Belinda), Terry Lewis (Marsha), Patrick Lewis (Carol), Kelly Lewis (Teresa) all of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Anna F. Norris of Kansas City, Missouri and Ruth McPowell of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; two cousins raised as siblings, Betty Yarbrough (Albert) and Elbert Payne Sr. (Betty) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; forty-two grandchildren, sixty-one great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, a special friend, Bernice Frazier, two loving caregivers Geraldine and Mrs. Pearson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
