George C. Jones

George C. Jones, “Sporty,” was born February 17, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Willie and Mimie Butler Jones. “Sporty” was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Capital High School, graduating in 1967; it was there where he met the love of his life, Faye Miles.

His parents, one brother, Willie Lee Jones Jr., and one sister, Annie Mae Johnson, preceded him in death.

George and Faye were united in holy matrimony on December 26, 1970, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This union was blessed with three daughters. George and Faye celebrated fifty-four years together. George and Faye relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1971. George worked odd jobs as a laborer. In 1976 he was hired at Ford Motor Company as a Spot Welder. George worked at Ford Motor Company for thirty years. He retired in 2006 and began traveling. Continuously going back to his hometown, traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, visiting his family in Phoenix, Arizona, and his favorite destination, Tunica, Mississippi.

His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his beautiful wife, Faye Jones; his sister, Priscilla Green; three daughters: Monica (Dwante Jackson), Marla Jones, and Marquita Jones; seven grandchildren: Antaniesha Jones, Anthony Jones (Diana), Angelica Jones, Hui Cha Posey, Raiyona Jones, Alicia Foster, and Alaia Foster. Five great-grandchildren: Audreail Davis, Emiliano Jones, Liyla Martin, Santiago Jones, and Heiress Johnwell; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
