Gerald Mason Taylor, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away on October 25, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. He was born on September 21, 1949, in California, Missouri to LaClede Taylor Sr. and Norma Taylor. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and received his education in the Kansas City Missouri School District. He worked for many years at the University of Kansas Medical Center before joining the City of Kansas City. He married Rosalind Dale (Tindal), and to their union one daughter was born, LaMonya Taylor (Lockett). Gerald and Rosalind later divorced.

Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Taylor; his father, LaClede Taylor Sr.; his brothers: LaClede Taylor Jr. and Phillip Taylor; his sister Beverly Caples; and one grandchild, LaMarques Lockett.

Gerald leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, LaMonya Lockett (Lloyd Sr.); three grandchildren: Lloyd Lockett Jr., Lukas Lockett, and Lamar Lockett; one brother, DeWayne Taylor; three sisters: Patricia Beason, Debra Cox, and Stephanie Taylor (Otis); his nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
