Gilbert R Rainey

Gilbert R. Rainey, 63, departed this life on March 28, 2018 at home in Kansas City, Mo. He was born March 20, 1955 in Hattieville, Arkansas to Henry L. Rainey and Gracie L. Rainey.

Gilbert grew up in Kansas City, Mo and graduated from Central High School. After high school he attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Mo. He later joined the Air Force. During his lifetime, he held several positions. He began work for the Board of Education, as a Computer Analyst. Later he worked as a realtor for Newsom Reality, CB Properties, and H&R Block. For the next 25 years he flipped, sold, and managed commercial and residential properties until his health failed forcing him to retire at age 56.

Gilbert had many hobbies playing golf, baseball, basketball, and bowling.

His community involvement and his passion for baseball led him to teaching and coaching the game that he loved. He coached baseball for several years for The Boys & Girls Club (RBI Baseball) program.

Gilbert married Jackie Rainey on November 7, 1987 in Kansas City, Mo. The two were happily married for 30 years.

He is proceeded into death by his mother, Gracie L. Rainey.

Gilbert leaves to cherish his memory his father, Henry L. Rainey; wife, Jackie Rainey; daughter, Kristen Moses (Ramon), two brothers, Dale Rainey (Noreen) Cedric Rainey (Betty); grandson Jarrell Hill, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.
