Gladys Lawton

Gladys Marie Burns was born June 30, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur and Esther Burns. She was the oldest of four children born to this union. Her father, Arthur preceded her in death and her mother, Esther, joined her shortly, in death after her passing.

She was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Paseo High School in 1972. While in high school, she was a member of both choir and Pep Club. She later received her certificate in Medical Billing in Kansas City, Missouri and worked in Healthcare and Medical Billing.

Gladys loved spending time with her family, crafting, planning, coordinating weddings, family events and parties. She enjoyed decorating beautiful Christmas trees, making and creating floral arrangements, corsages, sewing and more.

She loved the holidays. Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. She was the curator of the Annual Family Costume Party, which brought family and friends together from all over.

Gladys leaves to cherish her memory - her children, Gregory Burns Sr., Azuredee Burns and Stephen (Kammrie) Lawton, all of Kansas City, Missouri; one grandson, Gregory Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Kayreauna, Rikhi and Giah; one great granddaughter, Gabriella; siblings, Arthur Jr. (Diana) John Burns, David Burns and LaQuittia Boles, her best friend and sister Kimberly Cunningham of Dunlap, Tennessee, honorary children, Alvin Williams, Angelina Lipari, Reba Dowdy and honorary granddaughter, Amya Collins. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
