Gladys Richardson

On Wednesday, November 09, 2022, Gladys Lee-Richardson had her last rites and peacefully transitioned at the age of 81 years old on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Delores Gamble.

Her sunrise was September 09, 1941, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA, born to Kamorl R. Lee and Mable McDowell.

She attended St. Monica Catholic School in New Orleans, LA from Kindergarten through Junior High School.

In 1955, she moved to Kansas City, MO to live with a cousin. She attended Lillis High School from 1955 to 1958 where she graduated at the age of sixteen years old. She then moved back to New Orleans, LA to attend Dillard University.

After one year at Dillard University, she was accepted at General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959 and returned to Kansas City, MO. She graduated with an R.N. degree in 1961 where she started a long nursing career at St. Joseph Hospital, Veterans Hospital, K.C. Osteopathic Hospital as the Director of Nurses and finally retiring with the Missouri Patient Care Review Foundation (State of Missouri).

In 1961, Gladys Lee married early in life to Dr. Lee A. Richardson, Jr., to which two children were born. Robin K. Richardson (1964) and Lee A. Richardson, III (1969).

She was a lifelong Catholic and followed her religious doctrines. She was an active and participating member of the church as an usher, treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society and co-chairperson of the Annual Chili Supper to which she helped to generate hundreds of dollars for St. Monica Catholic Church.

Although Gladys had been a member of previous catholic parishes; By the kindliness of the parishioners and the church spirit drew her to St. Monica Catholic Church.

She dedicated her life to her family, her church, and friends. Those who loved her deeply will miss her dearly.
