Gregory Ward

Gregory Keith Ward was born August 17th, 1959 to Caesar and Mary Ward in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a graduate of Westport High School class of 1977 and attended Longview Community College. His love for music led him into a career of Disc Jockeying (DJ) for a number of entertainment establishments throughout the Kansas City area. Greg was one of the first On-Air Personalities hired for Magic 107.3 and later served as their Program Director known as Groovin' Greg Love. His late night on air show "Love after Dark" received some the highest listener ratings in the market. Greg was very articulate and known for his quick wit and upbeat personality. He was always able to make those around him smile and laugh. Throughout his illness he remained positive and very appreciative of everyone who cared for him. Those who visited him during his illness often left feeling uplifted by his positive attitude. He loved all sports particularly basketball, football, and World Wrestling Entertainment. Win or lose Greg was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan and could recite facts about every player. He had a love for cooking which he learned from his mother and could make the best peach cobbler. Greg departed this life on Saturday morning April 30th, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House. His parents Caesar and Mary Ward and three brothers Elmer Ward, Delmar Ward, Edward Ward preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter Kiara Gregory, son Brandon Carter and step-daughter ReKeysha Belcher-Abdullah (Ibn)., and two grandchildren, One sister Pam Ward, five brothers Melvin Ward, Elzy Ward, Robert Ward, Stevie Ward, and Tony Ward. Two cousins who Greg called his brothers, Gerald Berry and Terry Birdwell. Host of friends and family.
