Guy Johnson

Guy R. Johnson Sr., 64, was born on November 17, 1952 in Marshall, Missouri to his mother, Patricia Baker. His father, Gilbert Williams Sr., and grandmother, Laura Johnson both preceded him in death.

Guy received his formal education in Marshall Public School District where he played football, and wrestled. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Concord Fortress of Hope Church. Guy was united in holy matrimony to Patricia Jamison on November 19, 1992. Guy and Patricia celebrated 25 years of marriage and were together for 37 years.

Guy was employed at the City of Kansas City for 20 years. He was loving, caring, and a giving man. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the Lord most of all. Guy loved to sing. He had a God given voice. He sang in the groups “Chain of Soul” and “Rhapsody.” His voice was an instrument and everyone loved to hear him sing, ‘”One in a Million”. He also played the keyboard and the guitar.

Guy is loved by many and will be truly missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him. He departed this life on Saturday July 22, 2017 at his residence.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia Johnson, four daughters, Dominique Johnson, Tamala Hollis (Kevin), Elisha Jamison, Shavonne Powell (Corey), one son Guy Johnson Jr., all of Kansas City, Missouri, his mother, Patricia Baker of Marshall, Missouri, step mother, Koleen Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters, Terri Lynn Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lorna Baker of Marshall, Missouri, three brothers, Gerald Baker (Tonya) of Higginsville, Missouri, Gilbert Williams (Wynetta) of North Kansas City, Missouri, and Brian Baker of Marshall, Missouri, thirteen grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
