Hazel Marie Yarbro, 85, was born on October 26, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Rudolph Rhodes II (Helen) and Vernetta Rhodes. She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Clyde R. Yarbro; her son, Darrick Rhodes, Sr.; and her brothers: William Rhodes, Roland Rhodes, Larry Fulsom and Herman Fulsom.
Hazel was raised in Kansas City, where she graduated from Manuel High School. Following graduation, she devoted herself to raising her family and serving her church community. She faithfully served as President of the Junior Usher Board and later as a member of the Adult Usher Board at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
While living in Kansas City, Hazel met and married Clyde R. Yarbro on April 26, 1969. Together they shared over 40 years of marriage, building a strong, loving family and raising three sons.
Hazel found great joy in time spent with her family and was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
Left to cherish Hazel's precious memory: two devoted sons, Rodney C. Rhodes (Maria) of Tampa, Florida and Clyde K. Yarbro (Cheryl) of Kansas City, Missouri; four siblings, Rudolph Rhodes III (Ruth Ann), Reginald Rhodes (Donna Jean), Regina Rhodes-Shade (Kenneth), and Rosalind Shelton (Arthur); two nieces whom she helped raise with a mother’s love, Donna Garner (Quasim) and Rachel Harris (Carl) all of Kansas City, Missouri; a lifelong friend for over 70 years, Carolyn Jones; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and dear friends.
Her loving spirit, gentle heart, and enduring presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
