Helen DeAnne Larry

Helen DeAnne Larry, 79, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2026, at 11:30 pm, in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born on March 5, 1947, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to George Allen Weaver and Ruby Inez (Williamson) Weaver. DeAnne graduated in 1965 from Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City. She went on to work in administration for Milgram Food Stores, AT&T, City Hall of Kansas City, and later retired from Universal Underwriters/Zurich in 2006 after 25 years of service.

On February 15, 1969, she married Deroughrous Larry in Kansas City, Missouri, and they shared 57 happy years of marriage. Together, they were devoted partners in raising their family, blessed with two children, Dominique “Nikki” Larry and D’Andrae Larry. DeAnne and Deroughrous prioritized Christian education, not only for their own children but for others as well.

DeAnne was a faithful member of Linwood Blvd SDA Temple, where she served as an elder, treasury team member, Sabbath School teacher, Women’s Ministry leader, and church clerk. She was active in United Christian Women (Group B). Her beloved “Lunch Bunch” met for fun, faith, and fellowship, sampling a new restaurant each month. She also cherished a standing monthly tradition with dear friends, gathering to celebrate one another’s birthdays. Beyond these gatherings, DeAnne did life alongside a wide circle of loved ones — raising their children together in community, supporting one another, and praying for each other through every season of life. That sense of community was one of the most treasured parts of her life.

Her gift was encouragement — sometimes through a listening ear, sometimes a handwritten card or letter, and sometimes simply by showing up. She was someone those closest to her could always depend on. That’s who she was: one of God’s faithful servants, devoted to loving and caring for her own family as well as so many others.

DeAnne was preceded in death by her father, George Allen Weaver; her mother, Ruby Inez Weaver; and her brother, George Weaver III. She is survived by her husband, Deroughrous Larry; daughter, Dominique “Nikki” Larry; son, D’Andrae Larry (Stephanie); granddaughter, Ava Larry; grandsons, Hakim Majeed III and Walker Larry; siblings: Elaine Weaver, Arthur Weaver (Renee) and Pat Weaver-Clark (Robert); first niece, Tracy Weaver-Sawyer (Ray); chosen daughters, Etta Canady and LaVerne Berkel; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
